Slovenian Butterfly Monitoring Scheme

This website is not used for monitoring 'Pollard walk' butterfly transects.

These are co-ordinated through the official scheme in Slovenia.

15-min counts

There are other methodologies to count butterflies, like the 15-min Counts collected through the ButterflyCount mobile application, where your GPS tracks your route while counting butterflies for 15 minutes. All the data collected in this website will be shared with the Slovenian BMS and Society for the Conservation and Study of Lepidoptera in Slovenia// Društvo za proučevanje in ohranjanje metuljev Slovenije (DPOMS)

This free resource makes it easy to keep track of what you see while making your data openly available for scientific research, education, and conservation. The app is translated into Slovenian:

- Field Guide Slovenia

Slovenian Butterflies 1 is a national Field Guide showing pictures to identify 100 butterfly species that occur more frequently in diverse ecosystems of Slovenia.

This easy and direct Field Guide will help volunteers in butterfly identification and it provides the link to the Second Field Guide, Slovenian Butterflies 2 (in process), with species link between more difficult and similar species.

You can download the Field Guide Slovenia 1  in pdf directly to your device or print it directly (select the booklet option in the printer):

How to print the Field Guides:
The order of the pages are organised to print, you just need to select the booklet option and both sides to print your Field Guide in the printer. When you have the two sheets printed, just fold the sheets for the middle and organise them following the number of the pages.
