Имаме вече хиляди доброволци из цяла Европа, но в България доброволческото движение за броенето на пеперуди тепърва прохожда – въпреки, че страната ни е на едно от първите места в Европа по видове дневни пеперуди!

Намирате се на началната страница на Европейската мрежа за мониторинг на дневни пеперуди (the European Butterfly Monitoring Scheme, съкратено eBMS). Този уебсайт е съвместна инициатива на неправителствената организация за изучаването и опазването на пеперудите в Европа Butterfly Conservation Europe и научно-изследователския център за екология и хидрология Centre for Ecology & Hydrology. Той има за цел да подпомага развитието на национални и регионални мрежи за мониторинг на пеперуди из цяла Европа, и съдържа:
- Обединена база данни от националните мрежи за мониторинг на пеперуди в Европа – партньорството eBMS.
- Система данни и указания за разкриване на места за мониторинг на пеперуди там, където понастоящем няма национална мрежа. Списък с нашите партньори можете да видите тук.
- Пилотен проект за разширяване на европейската мрежа за мониторинг на пеперуди и в нови страни, вкл. и в България (Assessing ButterfLies in Europe (ABLE)).
- Място за популяризиране на различни други проекти, свързани с мониторинг на пеперуди

- EU Grassland Butterfly Index 1991 - 2023 Technical Report
We are pleased to inform you that we have updated the EU Grassland Butterfly Index, 1990-2023. We produced a technical report to describe the indicator, it represents a major update with the last three years up to 2023, through the incorporation of more and expanded datasets, schemes and the 27 EU countries (6,000 transects, and 17 species). It is the first major output from the EMBRACE project. This would not have been possible without the effort of all the collaborators, national schemes, and volunteers that provide voluntary the data to eBMS database. Our appreciation to all of them.
The EU Grassland Butterfly Index (GBI) 1991-2023 indicator is part of the monitoring report on progress towards the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in an EU context. The grassland butterfly indicator contributes to Goal 15: Life on Land being; one of the two biodiversity indicators together with birds. The GBI is specifically mentioned in the EU Nature Restoration Regulation (NRR) in article 11 on the Restoration of Agricultural ecosystems as one of the possible indicators.

- Final results of the ABLE project
For two years, we have been working on the European Pilot Project ABLE (Assessing ButterfLies in Europe) with incredible success in promoting and improving butterfly monitoring in Europe and producing high-quality Butterfly Indicators and useful tools for volunteers and coordinators.

- the eBMS App is updated!
You can download and use the new multilingual eBMS app, looking for "ButterflyCount" in AppleStore or App Store for Android.
It was created to do 15-min Count, counting butterflies for 15 minutes anywhere in Europe. The GPS tracks your route, area, or point of your search. You can also draw the recorded area. All transects registered on the eBMS website can be also done with the app! Just download it and log in with your eBMS account.
ButterflyCount has Picture Guides to help with butterfly identification offline. The app is translated into more than 10 languages and has the latest full list of the different butterfly species found across Europe – around 500 in total. You can record butterflies wherever you want!

A Manual with the information necessary to set up a transect and know the basic rules to follow in every visit to the transect. This provides a robust method to collect butterfly monitoring data and allows us to compare between transects.
