Welcome to the Irish Butterfly Monitoring Scheme recording home page.

This page presents information on how to use the eBMS application to set up transects for your monitoring walks in Ireland, entering your data and viewing your annual summary of your walks.

Quick Guide

These are the simple steps to get you started with entering data on the new online system. 

For users who are moving across from the old Irish Butterfly Monitoring application, and using eBMS for the first time, please Register for a new account using the exact same email address you used on the old platform. Once completed you can Login, as below, to access all your existing transects and recordings.

  1. Go to Login if you already have an account or Register for an account if you don’t.
  2. Go to ‘My Sites’ to set up new transect routes, or review the details of existing ones.
  3. Go to ‘My Walks’ to enter the data for your transect routes.
  4. Go to 'My samples' to review everything submitted by you on the system and edit any record.
  5. You can download everything on 'My downloads’.
  6. Go to ‘Annual Report’ to review your annual butterfly data, and to see what’s been entered for other transects you shared.

Please, contact the Irish coordinator before starting a transect, they can help you where to do your transect and give advice on butterfly monitoring.
